Our Long History
W.B. Hill was founded by Wilson B. and Bertha R. Hill around 1910 in Springfield, Massachusetts as a general trucking company, primarily hauling for government construction projects. In the early 1950s, their son and daughter, Erwin D. (Butch) and Dorothy Hill, took the reins and grew the business.
By 1965, W.B. Hill had outgrown its original Springfield location and moved to East Longmeadow, where it continues to operate today. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the next generation—Erwin Jr., Linda, Bob, and Terre—took over leadership of the company. With daughters, nieces, and nephews now working in the business, W.B. Hill remains a proud family-owned company, looking forward to its next chapter.
Facility and Equipment
In 2003, W.B. Hill expanded with a new addition, bringing the total shop space to 23,000 square feet. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped to handle everything from light repairs to large-scale fabrication, with tools and equipment including a 100-ton press brake, 10-foot plate shear, 60-ton ironworker, 60-ton truck lift, two mandrel pipe benders, and a waterjet cutter.
We specialize in tanks but also offer engine diagnostics and repair, chassis work, air conditioning, brakes, tires, and more. As an “R” stamp certified repair shop for coded tank vessels and a DOT-registered inspector (CT-1456), we’re fully licensed to perform federal tank testing and repairs, Massachusetts state inspections, and Connecticut metering device services.
Our Philosophy
At W.B. Hill, we believe a business is only as good as the people behind it. That’s why we take pride in the skill, integrity, and dedication of the men and women who make W.B. Hill what it is today—and what it will continue to be in the years ahead.
Our motto says it all
"If you're not proud of what you've done, you're not done."
